This soft tonal drawing was a preliminary study for the oil on tablecloth painting of the same name. The drawing places the park on a table top where the backs of three wooden chairs poke up above the near horizon and a coffee mug teeters on the closest edge of the table to the viewer. A sense of dusk and approaching night lies over the work with cars already with lights on making their way along the road on the far-side of the park.
