Ted Barraclough birds is the latest publication from artHIVES. This 440 page hardcover book contains 253 beautiful full colour photographs of Barraclough's bird sculptures, capturing the passionate skill of the artist and the imbued personality of his creations. This publication includes and essay by Museum of Contemporary Art curator, Glenn Barkley.
The release of "Ted Barraclough birds" coincidedes with Ted's latest installation of 100 birds sculptures at Artspace Mackay in an exhibition entitled "A Rare Bird" which opens on 8 September and continues until 9 February 2013. |

Immersed in materiality and process, her linear and geometric sculptural forms create drawings in space, and aim to transform everyday objects and materials into architectonic inventions. Kym Barrett is showing new work at a joint exhibition - Transformations - which opens at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre on Friday 12 October (6pm). Through her abstract work, Kym contemplates life and its process of continual transformation, connecting outer landscape fragments with an inner personal landscape. Kym will also be conducting a workshop in conjunction with the show.

Next month, Nick Olsen will be exhibiting work completed during his Royal Overseas League Residency at Gallery@OXO in the heart of London's Southbank district on 3 October.
The exhibition - Indian Summer - includes images produced during his 6 week residency at Hospitalfield House (Scotland).
Nick's work will also be exhibited at Rebecca Hossack's London gallery (Fitzrovia) later in 2012. |

Small Sculpture Wins Big |
Congratulations to Elizabeth Shaw, winner of the Noosa Regional Gallery national contemporary Sunshine Coast Art Prize (SCAP) 3D, presented by the Sunshine Coast Council, which was announced on Friday, 24 August 2012.
Shaw's exquisite tiny sculpture "rotary dibbler" made of recycled sterling silver, found clock cog and bone earned Elizabeth a cash prize of $15,000 and a four-week arts residency on the Sunshine Coast valued at $5000. |
