Jennifer Long - Traces |
Jennifer Long's fourth solo exhibition - Traces - runs at Graydon Gallery (29 Merthyr Rd, New Farm, Qld. Ph: 07 3254 2325) from 16-28 October with the opening night on Friday 19 October (6-8pm).
Carolyn Craig writes in her essay, "Jennifer Long assembles a montage of fragmented memories". There are links to flood and tsunami with fragments, flowers and detritus strewn across the submerged and emerging landscape.

Sue Beyer - Open Studio |
On Saturday 6 October (10am-4pm), Sue Beyer's Vanda Street studio (24 Vanda St, Woolloongabba) will be holding an open studio day as part of the Brisbane Artist Run Initiative (BARI) Festival. The open studio gives the public a chance to see what happens in the usually private artist studio. Work will also be for sale from Sue's new series of paintings.

Symone Male is excited to announce her self portrait - Unprepared - which has been accepted as a finalist in this year's Portia Geach Memorial Award. Symone's piece explores the depths of grief, introspection and solitude associated with the recent death of her brother.
Her work will be displayed at the National Trust (S.H.Ervin Gallery, Observatory Hill, Sydney) until 5 November. |

Des Rolph is pleased to announce that her painting - Drifting Through a Razzle Dazzle Landscape - is one of 15 finalists in the Kenilworth Art Prize. This annual prize ($15,000 in 2012) created in 2006, is a National acquisitive prize intended to give recognition and financial support to artists who have demonstrated outstanding artistic achievement and are committed to their ongoing creative development.

Aria Stone is a finalist in the 2012 arc Yinnar Biennial Drawing Prize with her drawing - Materiality II. The exhibition will run from Friday 19 October – Saturday 24 November. The official opening is on Saturday 20 October (2-4pm) at Art Resource Collective (19 Main St. Yinnar, Vic. Ph: 03 5163 1310).

Ceramic artists Ann & Gerry O’Connor will hold their eighth joint exhibition - Expressions x 3 - with painter Pat Boddington at Robyn Bauer Gallery (54 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington, Brisbane, Qld. Ph: 07 3511 6380) which opens on 19 October (6pm) and runs to 10 November. Ann will show carved white clay bowls and Gerry will show Raku bowls and figures. Gerry also has a photographic portrait exhibition - 7 Women by 7 - at the Pine Rivers Art Gallery (199 Gympie Rd, Strathpine, Qld. Ph: 07 3480 6941) which runs 17 October to 3 November, and will feature seven portraits each of seven significant women. |

Nick Olsen - Art For Sharks auction |
Nick Olsen will be donating an artwork for the Australian Marine Conservation Society's Art For Sharks charity auction. The auction will be held on 26 October at the Brisbane School of Art's Bleeding Heart Gallery. Over twenty artists from around Australia are donating artworks for the auction to help raise money for AMC's cause.
Nicks Work will also be on show at the GalleryOXO throughout October for the annual ROSL Scholars exhibition. |
