Sasi Victoire: artist’s statement.
Food nostalgia, rituals and artifacts that contribute to and surround the act of eating inspire this body of work made up of woodcuts, lithographs and digital media.
The images are derived from aroma and ingredients that transport the artist back through food memories into the artist’s early life in Malaysia. Continuing to use Alice as protagonist the artist translates recognizable settings in art history playfully for the Far North.
