Michael Donnelly was awarded Second Prize in the Chapel on Station Gallery 2015 Religious Art Prize, on the theme: Living Waters. The exhibition continues at Chapel on Station Gallery until Wednesday 16th September, 2015.
The artwork is entitled: Baptismal Waters: Colour studies. 2015, Oil on Canvas, Vertical triptych, 126 x 54 cm. (each panel 42 x 54 cm), $2000 ($750 per panel)
It is a triptych based on small sections of photographs from my children's baptisms; two in the Yarra, one at Anglesea beach. I’ve previously painted large narrative works on these events. This work focuses on colour / movement, reflections / play of light, and death / resurrection in the baptismal waters.
Mariette Perrinjaquet won first prize with a lovely monotype.
