This work was created for the ‘Red!’ show at Chapel on Station Gallery in 2011. There is an indication of the rocky Strathbogie Range landscape near Ruffy, silhouetted against a very, blood-red sky, clouds parting to reveal a descending yellow sun. Scrawled across the sky is a scrap of the lyrics from the song: “Come what may”, memorably sung by Euan McGregor in ‘Moulin Rouge’: “storm clouds may gather, stars may collide, but I’ll love you to the end of time. Come what may. . .” To the artist, such sentiments echo Jesus’ promise from the end of the Gospel according to Matthew - that he will be with us “to the end of the age.”
